Ozone
One needs wings to fly, that’s for sure. Then what type of wing shall you take? Aude well knew the guys from Ozone who are based at Bar-Sur-Loup in the South of France. Me, I learned paragliding with the Ozone Atom and really appreciated the agility of this DHV 1 wing, which we find back in all Ozone wings: these things live! We all love touching cloud base and then spiraling down or playing around in all directions. For this journey on which we are to discover plenty of new flying sites in sometimes unsure conditions, we wanted a mix of performance, sportiness and safety …
Ozone has a strong reputation of promoting freedom, adventure and discovery. And the team really lives this reputation! The new Ozone DHV 1-2 gliders were right up the alley for our adventure. With the lightweight GEO, the stable BUZZ and the more sporty RUSH, we’re ready for the adventure. The small McDaddy 41 completes the list - a tandem which feels like a solo glider: steering by pushing the passenger. Flying Ozone is an adventure in itself! It will be a pleasure to many kids and locals of all nationalities including indigenous people!
BoulevArt
As we wanted to share our experience with as many people as possible, we looked for a competent media-partner to develop an original website. We did not need many meetings with Francis Goethals from Boulevart to talk about what and how on the website. Boulevart immediately took the spirit of our project and translated that in what you can enjoy now on this site. It is a shot in the rose! We thank a lot the dedicated team of Boulevart who will support us all year round.
Go4 Consulting
A young and very competent consulting team joined up in Go4 Consulting: a SME of the 21st century! Opportunities are challenges, and Go4 offers the best service to turn each opportunity into an asset. The fact that we offer the opportunity to people all over the world to go flying with us convinced Go4 Consulting to support us. And so they are part of the realization of many peoples dream. We hope to produce great pictures for their commercial campaigns.
Passage Fitness First
One needs a fit and healthy body for an adventurous trip. Hiking above 4000m for example needs special physical preparation. So Fitness First is the place to be - either preparing a long journey or a skiing holiday, or simply staying in great shape. They also offer training programs on your travels abroad!
Icebreaker
Effective, durable and light. These were the main criteria for selecting our team clothing. When looking around on the enormous market of high-tech materials, our eyes fell on the light of New Zealand fine merino wool clothing. Kym Fielke’s knowledge from work in an adventure shop enabled him to advise the advantages of Icebreaker’s clothing systems.
To Aude and me it is new. I was a bit skeptical at first as I am blessed with a badly sensitive and allergic skin that easily turns red and itchy, especially in contact with wool. But we were honored to be selected by Icebreaker to help promote their range of wonderful (non-itchy!) fine wool products.
Another of the great characteristics of fine merino wool is that it doesn’t retain body odor - not unimportant if you’re carrying the same shirt and socks all year round! Read in the ‘Equipment’ section about our experience with the Icebreaker clothing.
Sup’ Air
Lightweight, strength, safety, performance and comfort! We wanted the lightest harnesses and reserve parachutes for transport. We needed strength and safety to keep us in the air in all conditions. Performance pays off when trying acrobatic moves or when spiraling up in a thermal. We hoped with all this to find a minimum degree of comfort to enjoy longer distance flights also! Sup’ air doesn’t need an introduction. They have a great spirit and they are very willing to support adventurous projects that reflect the spirit of freedom. Have a look at the ‘Equipment’ section to learn more about our harnesses.
Lazer
A helmet is a hot item in paragliding for evident reasons. Choosing a helmet is a compromise between safety and air contact. In an open-face helmet, you better feel and hear the air, whilst an integrated (full-face) helmet offers maximum security. We were looking after security and lightweight and then, our choice was pretty straightforward as the Downhill helmet has both characteristics. We love the helmets delivered by Lazer! We tested the strength during some hard-rock head banging: and we sincerely hope not to need to test more!
