The Next Destination

We do not plan to return to Myanmar shortly.

Just these few words to think back of the brave revolution led by the Monks and to keep our attention to the suppressed population.

In 2005, in a small temple in Northern Thailand, we met a Monk telling us in confidence to follow the newslines on Myanmar as they were preparing a big revolution ...

Their failed revolution is one of the saddest moments of 2007, as it is another bad example of how geopolitics and economic interests overrule people's rights in the 21th century.

An even scarier connotation is that this event diappeared as fast from the media-attention as it appeared. And that's another confirmation of our worst experience of our travels.

During all our trips, to our surprise, we noticed each time again by reading local and foreign newspapers, how information is abused, controlled by a few influential powers and changed to their advantage. We all swallow it blindly.

The good news is that this situation can only improve. With a good use of the available communication media, the revolution launched by the Monks will one day involve the global population and so be stronger than any geopolitical interest.
